This song always seems to be my farewell song to the year. Even though the true meaning of the song I believe is about an abusive step father, it just becomes an anthem to me to get through one more tough year and to have some hope for a new one.On October 6, 2009, The Mountain Goats performed "Psalms 40:2" on The Colbert Report. It was their first television appearance. Darnielle also had a short interview with Colbert in which he professed himself a fan.
